William Irani is a Project Engineer at Cornish Lithium, where he leads the development and delivery of the company’s lithium-enriched geothermal water (LiGW) extraction projects. Since joining in 2021, William has played a central role in engineering, commissioning, and operating multiple pilot plants, beginning with the UK’s first Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) pilot at United Downs. He also oversees technical studies, on- and off-site test programs, and system performance reviews to support technology selection.

His current focus includes the procurement and integration of a demonstration-scale DLE system and preparing the Cross Lanes site for wide-diameter drilling and testing of the Lithium Extraction system.

William brings nearly a decade of experience across the mining and tunnelling sectors, including roles as a Tunnel Boring Machine Engineer at Hinkley Point C with Balfour Beatty and as a Technical Coordinator with Gaustec Magnetic Technologies. He holds a First-Class Honours degree in Mining Engineering and is working toward IOM3 chartership.
