Richard Elmer is the Director of Knight Piésold UK in London and a geotechnical specialist with over 35 years of experience in multidisciplinary mine feasibility studies and designs. He holds a BSc in Geology from Southampton University and an MSc in Mining Geology from the Camborne School of Mines. Richard has delivered projects across Eastern and Western Europe, the Americas, Africa, Central Asia, and Asia Pacific. He leads a substantial global portfolio of mine waste facility reviews and is a regular presenter on best practice in tailings and mine waste management. His technical expertise in mine waste, tailings, and rock mechanics is complemented by strong project management and communication skills. Richard co‑established the Knight Piésold London office in 2013, building a specialist geotechnical, civil engineering, and tailings practice that has supported nearly 100 mines in 50 countries over the past decade.
