Carly Leonida is a UK-based technical writer, editor and communications consultant with 20 years’ experience covering the global mining sector. Over the course of her career, Carly has written for and managed some of the industry’s leading trade publications, including Mining Magazine and Engineering & Mining Journal. She has also held senior roles shaping technical and strategic discourse across the sector, such as external communications manager at Sandvik Mining.
Carly founded The Intelligent Miner in 2019, an online publication that delivers intelligent, credible storytelling to help the mining and metals industry communicate clearly, build trust and earn its place in a sustainable future. She is a non-executive board member of Women in Mining UK (WIM UK) and continues to contribute to international publications as a freelance writer and industry commentator. Carly holds a first-class degree in geography and geology from the University of Brighton and was named one of the most influential women in mining by Clear Creek Media in 2016.
