Angela Bentley
ESTA - Trustee

Angela has 30 years of teaching experience, including 11 in secondary schools and the rest in sixth form colleges teaching A‑Level geology, geography and environmental science.

She spent 12 years as Head of Earth Sciences at Aquinas College, Stockport, and is the only UK teacher to have been NERC‑funded (Natural Environmental Research Council) to join a six‑week research expedition on the RRS James Cook studying ocean core complexes with Durham, Birmingham and Cardiff universities. She later created teaching resources and delivered lectures nationwide to audiences from infant school to the University of the Third Age.

Her work contributed to ocean core complexes and models of oceanic crust being added to the A‑Level syllabus. She received the Patrick Moore Medal by the Royal Astronomical and Geophysics Society in 2019.

Angela chaired the Earth Science Teachers’ Association for three years and continues to serve on its council and as a trustee.
