James McFarlane

James McFarlane is a globally experienced technical mining professional, with a strong background in both UK and international mining operations. James has held senior roles in active mining operations in England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Australia, and also as a mining consultant supporting exploration and project development studies (Mineral Resource Estimates, Ore Reserve Estimates and Feasibility Studies), across a range of commodities worldwide including precious, base, critical and energy transition metals.

James is currently an associate Principal Consultant (Mining & Geology) with Bara Consulting, an independent geological, engineering, processing and ESG-focussed consulting firm providing services to the international mining sector, supported by a network of experienced associates and partners worldwide. James is also a Non-Executive Director of Vast Resources plc. an AIM listed (VAST) producer and developer with assets in Romania and Tajikistan. James also provides independent mining advisory and competent person support to personal clients and volunteers to support the IOM3 with their Qualified for Minerals Reporting accreditation process and acts as Chair of the Institutes advisory committee to the PERC reporting standard, at which he is also a member of the Finance and Regulatory Committee.

James holds a MSc from the Camborne School of Mines in Mining Geology, is a Chartered Geologist, Chartered Engineer and Registered Professional Geoscientist in the fields of Mining and Mineral Exploration. He is a Fellow of the IOM3, Geological Society of London, the Institute of Quarrying, the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers and is also a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists
