After being enamoured by the vast potential of geothermal potential from a high school trip to Iceland, David obtained an Earth Science degree from University of Glasgow in 2017 to pursue a career in geothermal energy. From here he joined TownRock Energy as a geothermal geologist and since then has completed a PhD with the University of Strathclyde, identifying and quantifying mine water geothermal resources across Scotland.

Between his research and work at TownRock Energy, David has gained rare experience in geothermal project planning and execution, resource characterisation, risk mitigation and maintenance. David now leads the operation and maintenance of the UK’s first two multi-megawatt mine water geothermal heating schemes in Gateshead, and has been pivotal when organising and planning other projects in the earlier stages of development.
