Bess Mann

SpecialityCamborne School of Mines - CSM Student Association Co-President and MSc Mineral Processing Student

Bess is in her fourth year at Camborne School of Mines; after graduating from BEng Mining Engineering in 2023, she is now studying for a Master’s in Mineral Processing at CSM.

While at CSM, she has focused on Mining Engineering applications, undertaking a work placement at a small open-pit copper Mine South of Mount Isa, Australia. She is now focusing on Mineral Processing and Metallurgy during her studies and as a Lab assistant at GSL.

Bess is Co-President of the CSM Student Association with Codi Brooks and a master’s representative from Woman in Mining; she is actively involved with events and socials around Cornwall and the UK. She is also active in other areas, attending national conferences and as a CIE student representative and an IoM3 member. During her third year of Mining Engineering, Bess was a member of the International Mining Games team and Captain of the World Mining Competition team, where for both events, the team secured second place.

She is passionate about innovation, the environment and development for research and mine operations, with a drive to help increase industry engagement through outreach events at local schools and colleges.
